VLC is back on Huawei smartphones

VLC can be downloaded again via the Play Store and installed on a Huawei smartphone. VideoLAN had blacklisted the Chinese manufacturer, accusing it of preventing playback of audio files in the background. Huawei has since changed its firmware and users can again use the media player normally on their mobile.

In July 2018, VLC blacklisted Huawei and prevented users from installing the application on their branded smartphone through the Play Store. VideoLAN, the developer of the media player, explained at the time to have made this decision because Huawei prevented many applications from running in the background. It was not possible to listen to audio content in the background on his mobile.
