Google Pixelbook and Pixel Slate: End Clap for Google Laptops and Pads?

According to the Business Insider website, Google is abandoning the market for laptops and pads whose latest models are the Pixelbook and Pixel Slate. And for good reason, the firm has begun a major redeployment of its workforce devoted to these devices

Google's hardware division has grown in importance in recent years with the company's positioning in many markets. After smartphones, Google praises connected speakers Google Home, a Home Hub, but also its tablets and laptops. Its latest tablet, the Pixel Slate was released in late 2018 while we are still waiting for the successor of the Pixelbook that was launched in 2017.

Google redeploys its hardware team dedicated to notebooks and tablets

According to the Business Insider site visibly very well informed, Google has invited several members of his team "Create" devoted to hardware to find another position within the big house Alphabet. This is a shock to dozens of employees in the tablet and notebook division, not least. They are engineers in charge of design and hardware, technical managers, but also support staff.

These employees are not thanked, but will have to find another place within the group. Several projects of the firm would be put on the back burner. Business Insider, however, notes that the production team has not been affected, which suggests that Google will continue to manufacture tablets and laptops in the medium term. And it seems likely that the Pixelbook 2 has been waiting for several months.

Google Pixel and Google Home are not affected by these changes internally. The smartphones and connected speakers of the firm still have good days in front of them. The future of the laptop and tablet divisions is getting darker. And if Google had to give up these devices, maybe Chrome OS that animates them would know the same fatal destiny. Will Google Fuschia take over?
