Android Q: how Google will block unwanted calls

Android Q will allow users to automatically block unwanted calls. Google is working on new features for its Phone application. Some Google Pixel users, having installed the Android Q beta, say they already have access to these new features. We explain to you how it works.

On Android, it is already possible to block an unwanted number that has already contacted you. With Android 10 Q, Google wants to go even further, report our colleagues Android Police. The Mountain View company aims to filter all unwanted numbers proactively, even before they come into contact with you.

With Android Q, Google wants to filter all unwanted calls

Some users of the first beta of Android Q have indeed noticed the appearance of new features in the Phone application. These options are not available to all users of the beta. We did not notice anything about our Google Pixel for example. This is an update enabled on the server side of Google.

These new options will automatically block some calls based on their origin. This allows you to filter calls from a number not in your phonebook, hidden numbers or phone numbers. Many marketers use indeed hidden numbers, or numbers whose true source is not accessible, to contact you. You are obviously free to establish a blacklist and a custom whitelist directly in the Phone application. The option also blocks messages.

Given the inefficiency of Bloctel, the anti-soliciting system, these options should appeal to many users. As Android Police points out, Google has been working on blocking unwanted numbers for over a year. The option had almost been integrated with Android Pie. What do you think of these options? Do you often receive unwanted calls? We are waiting for your opinion in the comments.
