In the short trailer of the game, Microsoft promises to say more on May 17. This date was not chosen at random since it marks the 10th anniversary of the launch of Minecraft. It is indeed May 17, 2009 that the game was launched publicly in a trial version before the beginning of the pre-orders. Since then, water has flowed under the bridges and Microsoft bought in the meantime the studio Mojang, developer of the game.

10 years after its launch, Minecraft remains one of the most popular franchises in the world with more than 90 million active players in 2019. The license owes this attachment of players to its evolution over time and Microsoft wants to go even further inspired by the concept of Pokémon Go, which continues to make big money for Niantic. The potential is also huge for a license like Minecraft.

In 10 days, we will know more about this Augmented Minecraft Go that may become the phenomenon of this summer. And as a reminder, Microsoft is also preparing Minecraft: Dungeons, an adventure action game for Windows PCs expected for 2019.
