Qwant and Wiko together to propose new Google alternative on smartphone

Wiko and Qwant join hands to offer an alternative to Google on a special edition of Wiko View2 Pro. This version will include Qwant as the default search engine, but also a browser proposed by the French company instead of Google Chrome.

Qwant is trying to win in a market dominated by the head and shoulders by Google. The French search engine is an alternative whose strength lies in respect for privacy, an aspect on which Google is not deemed virtuous. Difficult, however, to make him shade, but Qwant deploys the small plants in large to attract more people. The company recently announced a partnership with Wiko, the French brand of low-priced smartphones.

These are two French companies who decided to join hands. Because Wiko remains a French company with its headquarters based in Marseille, despite the purchase of the majority of shares by the Chinese. However, it is hard to imagine the value of this partnership for the brand, but the deal will benefit Qwant to a certain extent to attract more users.

A few months ago, the European Commission imposed a fine of 4.3 billion dollars on Google for abuse of dominant position. This condemnation forces the company to open a little more its Android system in Europe. Indeed, Google forced manufacturers to install its default applications on all smartphones. A practice that promotes, for example, the Google app (search) and the Google Chrome browser.

Qwant takes advantage of this new deal to negotiate with the builders. The installation of its default search engine on some models could allow it to increase its market share. For now, it starts with a special edition of Wiko View2 Pro which is also soberly baptized View2 Pro Qwant while the Wiko View3 Pro is expected for the month of May.
