Inbox By Gmail: an extension relives the application on Google Chrome

While the Inbox app closes definitively on April 2, developers have found a way to revive it via the Google Chrome web browser by creating an extension that resembles the same. But it is little or nothing the only consolation factor of the fans of the application since the extension does not really take the features of Inbox.

This Tuesday, April 2, 2019, Google ends two of its applications: Google+ on the one hand, but also Inbox by Gmail that will stop working today. Launched in 2014, the application has been adopted by many users who have made it their email manager par excellence. Although Google has announced its closure for more than 6 months, many users will have a little trouble making the transition to Gmail.

Inbox Theme for Gmail: a consolation prize for Inbox users

A group of Swedish developers who were obviously very fond of Inbox had the idea of reproducing the application's appearance and recreating their user experience through a Google Chrome extension called Inbox Theme for Gmail. Once installed, the look of Gmail is automatically modified to present a design and interface elements similar to those of Inbox.

But as you can imagine, this is all about aesthetic changes. The real features of Inbox as the automatic grouping of mails, their classification according to those received today, yesterday and previous months, the management of messages as tasks or the reminder of emails are absent. Google has announced that the best features of Inbox will be added to Gmail, but for now, none of them are available yet.

The break will indeed take place and there is no way to escape. Inbox Theme for Gmail comes as a consolation prize for fans of the app who will have to say goodbye to Inbox.
