RED finally delivers those who had pre-ordered the Hydrogen One Titanium at $ 1600 ... in 2017

RED is finally starting to deliver those who had pre-ordered the Hydrogen One in Titanium - a $ 1600 smartphone that the brand's customers had been waiting for since ... 2017. To make them wait, RED had in the meantime offered them an aluminum version. Alas, with so much waiting, customers discover a very expensive smartphone with a technical sheet somewhat outdated. And a future of RED Hydrogen modules ecosystem uncertain.

RED finally comes, after two years, to begin the delivery of Hydrogen One smartphones in titanium. A premium version with a light dress - unlike the cheaper aluminum version - and 256 GB of internal storage, which was offered as soon as it was announced in preorder for the modest sum of $ 1595. The development of this smartphone has experienced quite a few snags and its launch had to be delayed several times.

RED starts delivering the first Hydrogen One Titanium

Because of these delays, RED had offered Hydrogen One Titanium customers an aluminum version (cheaper) last September. They have just received their second smartphone. However, we imagine that all will not be happy to learn that despite these two years of waiting, their smartphone embeds for technical sheet a SoC 2017, ie a Snpadragon 835. This makes it one of the the most expensive smartphone ever released on this platform.

The RED Hydrogen One is the first smartphone from the manufacturer of RED cinema cameras. It is distinguished by its auto-stereoscopic screen that displays 3D content that can be enjoyed without glasses, but also to record 3D images, front and back. The firm has also planned an ecosystem of accessories, although the future of these is still uncertain. Thus it could serve as a screen for a 3D camera of cinematographic quality specially designed for the smartphone. But another camera module, initially teased by the firm, seems to have since been purely and simply canceled.
