Instagram accounts lost thousands and even millions of followers and the company attached to the problem

In November of 2018, Instagram announced that they would take measures to curb disruptive activity in the social network. What this means is that they'll start getting rid of "likes", comments, and fake followers, especially from accounts that use third-party applications to inflate their popularity artificially.
Today, many users of the social network Instagram found that the number of followers has decreased significantly. There are those who have lost up to 20,000 followers in one night, and there are very large accounts like those of some celebrities and media that have lost millions.

While there are those who believe that it is related to the intrest procedure to eliminate inactive accounts or in violation of its policy, there are those who say it may be wrong, because the numbers of followers look different from the different accounts of some users.
The Intergram website did not issue any official statement, but a company spokesman told Mirror Online and Hello Magazine that they were aware of a problem that had caused a change in the number of account followers for some people and were working on it now.
On Twitter there are dozens of comments and reports about missing followers of user accounts. Matt Navarra, a social media specialist, collects a list of popular accounts that lost followers throughout the day.
For example, Selena Gomez's Instagram account has lost 2.3 million followers, Ariana Grande has lost 3 million followers, Nike's official account has lost more than 1 million followers, and the BBCNews account has lost more than 100,000.
