The Microsoft Store on Windows 10 Mobile, it's over

Windows 10 Mobile continues to flow. The OS does not support the latest version of the Microsoft Store, confirming that the Redmond firm has completely abandoned its operating system, whose death is scheduled for January 2020.

It smells a little more the tree for Windows 10 Mobile. At the beginning of the year 2019, Microsoft already advised to pass to Android or iOS to the irreducible users of the OS, admitting that there was absolutely no interest to keep a device running under this operating system. And as noted by MonWindows, it still loses interest as it no longer supports the Windows Store.

Windows 10 Mobile says goodbye to the Microsoft Store

The latest Release Preview version of the Insider program (11904.1001.1.0.) From the Redmond App Store is no longer supported by Windows 10 Mobile. This means that the remaining handful of users will remain stuck at the current version and will not be able to update anymore. They will still be able to use the current Store on their device and download apps and updates.

As a reminder, the end of Windows 10 Mobile is scheduled for January 2020, date from which Microsoft will not offer any updates. This is currently not glorious since only a security update is deployed each month. Of course, no more feature updates have been available for a long time.

The utility of the Windows Store itself is often called into question, even on a computer. It has been criticized since the release of Windows 8 and many users still prefer to download software via their browser rather than go through the Windows integrated store. Even if there have been improvements, the interface remains mostly thought for the mobile and its interest is revealed especially on tablet or hybrid PCs.
