Xiaomi: Antivirus preinstalled on smartphones can turn into malware

Xiaomi installs default applications and software suites on its smartphones. One of them, Guard Provider, which is ironically an anti-malware, was affected by an important security breach.

Security researchers at Check Point have announced they have discovered a security breach potentially present on millions of Xiaomi smartphones around the world, reports Cnet. The vulnerability is present in a pre-installed application, Guard Provider. This software includes solutions from Avast, AVL and Tencent and should be used to protect malware users.
