Netflix ends the free trial month in several European countries, including Italy and Spain. At registration, the SVOD platform no longer offers this offer and users are asked to pay immediately to access the service.

It seems that Netflix has decided to stop offering the first month of free subscription to its users. SmartWorld pointed out that the SVOD platform no longer offers this service in Italy and according to our findings, it is also in other European countries such as Spain. When a new account is created, Netflix no longer indicates to customers that they have a 30-day trial, with billing starting in the first month.
Netflix ends the first month free, to avoid abuse?
By taking a look at the Netflix Help Center, we can see that the section has been updated and now says: "Free trials are not currently available in your country" (see screenshot below) ). The message may differ depending on the geographical location.
It is easy to imagine that Netflix believes that it is now sufficiently powerful and indispensable in the video-on-demand market to attract customers without having to offer a month of service without paying. For example, Netflix has surpassed the 5 million subscribers in France alone and crushes the competition. Canal Play has also paid the price and we are waiting to see how will get out the fresh Canal + Series. We can also think that the SVOD platform is tired of seeing abuses with this system. It is quite simple to accumulate free months in a home and enjoy a long period of service without paying anything.
We joined Netflix to find out more, including the official reaction: "This is a test of the availability and duration of a free trial to better understand the value consumers place on Netflix. The tests vary in length and according to the region. We are also told that there is in the immediate future "no information of a similar test in France". According to our own test, everything seems normal in France and Belgium for the moment.
